Fake words
Okay, so boom
When was yall going to tell me brolic ain’t a word
The phrase bounced around the room
Floored, stirred, absurd, how I felt after what I just heard
From my phone, everyone knows what brolic means, but nah, it’s just a New York thing
… That’s crazyyyyyyyyy yo
Shorty mad brolic
A statement I frequently heard
Now I got the ick
Because it ain’t even a real word
So my ego’s a little bruised
Other people use this word did they hear the news
Was it just me, man, I had to see
Turns out the whole city was brainwashed
How B
Sitting there, more questions came, and I was just lost
Like, why are some words real and others aren’t
Brolic: used to describe something as really muscular, strong, or big
Words are just tools used to communicate,
Urban or Webster, what’s the difference, because one’s contents gets praised while the other’s didn’t
Or do I got to get old studying Linguistics until I’m a snob
Getting to choose what words people can use, like it’s my job
Is that what makes them real
Honestly… I could care less like I ain’t finna sit up here and stress
I’m still gonna say you bugging, it’s mad brick, that’s OD
‘Cause that’s just me
And how I was raised, I got fake words flowing through my veins
Pumping in my chest, using them to communicate, is when I feel the best
Language like this represents me
Being from the Big Apple
Big NYC
This experience taught me
Man don’t let people limit your voice
Your words might be “fake”, but they’re real to you
